TheRetailCoach team of experienced retail practitioners is lead by:

Rosemary Sidaway DipM, MTS, retail coach, consultant, trainer, speaker, and publisher of the online retail toolkit www.TheRetailCoach.co.uk.

Ros is Passionate about Retailing. With over 20 years experience working in the retail sector, she still gets a buzz from it every day. For her, there is no business like the retail business.

She began her retail journey as an ‘after school’ assistant in her local Mace grocery shop, then became a Saturday girl in Woollies, leading to a full-time role managing the new store’s busy Music & Record department. Little did Ros know then that the knowledge, skills and experience she gained during those 4 years would prove invaluable as she progressed in her retailing career.

In 1992, after working her way up through the retail supply chain and gaining the CIM PostGraduate Diploma in Marketing, Ros joined the Boots Group as Own Brand Development Manager for their DIY subsidiary, Do It All Limited. She played a key role in redefining and repositioning the DIA brand, reducing operating costs and improving customer service. In 1997, she was promoted to Business Analysis Manager, responsible for identifying opportunities for growth in retail sales and profitability. Ros was actively involved in the sale of the company to Focus DIY in late 1998, and moved into consulting the following year.

Since then, Ros has enjoyed helping independent retailers achieve success in their businesses through her coaching, training and consultancy work. Her clients also include organisations in the tourism sector (Tourist Information Centres, Museums, Visitor Attractions, etc) for whom retailing is an increasingly important source of income but not necessarily their core activity.

Ros also works with retail traders associations, local councils and other organisations who have an interest in maintaining and developing a sustainable retail environment in their neighbourhood. She was recently appointed Chair of her local Town Centre Partnership, which is working with the local council to improve the vitality and viability of the town centre.
